Frequently asked questions
RCC stands for Registered Clinical Counsellor and is a registered term for members of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC)
CCC stands for Canadian Certified Counsellor and is a registered term for members of the Canadian Counselling Psychology Association (CCPA)
For the most part the difference between an RCC and CCC is minimal. Sometimes extended benefits providers make a difference between them but that’s about it
Our address is 9067 Church Street in Fort Langley. Once you arrive, follow the path along the right side of the building to the back, and take the 5 steps up to our entrance. There are signs, too, to help you find your way.
The parking in front of the building is reserved for Fort Family Chiropractic clients only. There are free street parking options around our office, in addition to a paid lot adjacent to our buidling. Parking in Fort Langley can get busy so we recommend allowing yourself extra time where possible. If you would like a parking map to help locate free parking, or have any concerns at all, please speak to Laura at the front desk, or your therapist.

Our Therapist Interns are Masters students in their last year of school. Thoroughly vetted, with knowledge of the latest research and methodologies in counselling psychology, our Therapists Interns are accepting appointments at a special rate of $60 per session. Closely supervised in house by a therapist with at least 5 years of experience and RCC credentials, these Therapist Interns also receive ongoing feedback, ensuring continued improvement with each session.
Our Recent Grads are finished with their school and are in their first year of practical experience after school. Each Recent Grad is thoroughly vetted, with knowledge of the latest research in counselling psychology. They’re closely supervised and receive ongoing feedback, ensuring they are gaining specific trauma therapy training and providing excellent counselling services.
All other therapists have at least one year of work experience and training in at least one specific trauma training. They’re also undergoing ongoing training and consultation to ensure the highest level of care. For each individual therapist, please refer to their bios.
The number one predicting factor of a great counselling experience is the relationship you have with your therapist. Skills, knowledge, experience is secondary. So if you feel connected, heard, understood, and felt, that’s a sign that your therapist is a good fit for you. If you don’t feel connected, we encourage you to bring it up with your therapist, our intake worker, or our director.
Yes! We have therapists who offer services in German, Hindi, Urdu and Spanish.
Often our therapists do have waitlists of varying lengths, but we’re more than happy to help you navigate the options and tell you about current wait times when you reach out to us; we want to make sure that you’re getting connected with the best fitting therapist for your needs.
We accept credit cards, debit cards, exact cash, and e-transfer. For your convenience, we can keep your credit card number securely on file, so you don’t have to worry about payment after your sessions.
Many extended benefit plans cover counselling fees with registered therapists, up to a certain amount. Check your eligibility with your employer. We’re happy to help you navigate the jargon. If you are covered, you will need to submit your receipt to your benefits provider as we do not direct bill.
We have therapists registered with all of these services, though not every therapist is registered with each of them. Feel free to contact us and let us know you have coverage, then we’ll connect you with a therapist who is covered.
Money can be a complicated issue, especially in challenging times. Our first priority is to ensure clients get the services they need. If you’d like to discuss your payment options, we’re here to help. Most of our therapists offer sliding scales, and our Recent Grad and Therapist Interns are also great alternatives.
When you first come to counselling, most people will see their therapist weekly. This helps to build a strong and comfortable relationship with your therapist. You can then work with your therapist to see what might work best for you and your healing journey.
Generally, there are no age limits for therapy clients (our youngest was 3 and our oldest 73).
With very young children, our counsellors will use play therapy. We think therapy is a wonderful tool at all stages of life. We welcome all ages here at Treehouse, and will adjust our approach to match your personal needs.
Confidentiality with teens can be a tricky situation, and your therapist will help you navigate that on an individual basis. It’s important for your teen to know that what they tell their therapist is private and confidential, but we also understand that as parents you want to help.
We use a lot of play therapy with young kids including sand tray, arts, etc. We know that young children often don’t have the words to express their feelings, so we use carefully selected toys to help them express themselves in ways they know best: through play.
Yes, we would need consent from both parents. This is to protect the confidentiality of the child’s counselling. The exception to this would be if a court order allows one parent full Medical Decision Making. If you have questions about this, please reach out to us and we are happy to walk you through this process.
Yes. Research consistently shows that online counselling is just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related difficulties. What matters most is the quality of the therapeutic relationship—not the physical location. Many clients find they are able to engage more openly and consistently when they can attend sessions from a familiar, comfortable space.
