Katherine Fuentes

MA Clinical Psychology
Child & Trauma Therapist
RCC #26961
Specializing in therapy for children, youth and families
Katherine is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#26921) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in constructivist and
constructionist psychotherapy, from the Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile. She provides counselling to children, youth, parents and families in both English and Spanish, supporting them through trauma, anxiety, emotional and behavioural challenges, and major life transitions.
Katherine's counselling approach is grounded in a collaborative, dialogic way of working, integrated with modalities such as play therapy, EMDR, and attachment-based and neurodivergent-affirming practices.
She has completed training in EMDR and Theraplay, and brings more than six years of experience.
Katherine is warm, curious and deeply respectful of each family's own story. She believes that children and families already carry the strengths and wisdom they need, and she sees her role as helping to uncover and strengthen those qualities at each client's own pace. Trust, connection and genuine collaboration are at the heart of her work. Whether through play, conversation or creativity, Katherine strives to create a space where young people and their caregivers feel safe, seen and supported on their healing journey.
Outside of the counselling room, Katherine recharges in nature. Time spent outdoors, among trees, near the water, or under open sky, reminds her of the same things she hopes to offer her clients: space to breathe, room to grow, and a sense of belonging.
